Question:Summarize the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they respond to the specific concerns presented in the reading passage. The Salton Sea is confronted with a serious problem of the increasing salinity. The reading passage lists 3 possible solutions to recover the salinity. However, the professor thinks all of the ways in the reading passage as unrealistic and points out their leaks respectively.

Firstly, it is suggested that salt could be directly removed from the lake by desalination facilities. However, the professor argues that the materials left behind could bring health risk to human, especially some toxic chemicals like....,which will probably be blew by the wind to human body, thus doing harm to people\\\'s health.

In addition, the second solution, diluting the salt with water from the ocean is also criticized . The professor  contends that pipelines or cannals have to be built in order to use the water from the ocean. However, even the nearest potential location of the pipeline or the cannal is as long as 100 kilometers, which requires a great deal of money and resources the government unable to afford.

Finally, the professor disputes the third solution of constructing walls by telling that Salton Sea is located at the place where the plate motion is frequent and as a result, the walls will be easily collapsed after an earthquake and the water in different section will come back to the main section of the lake. That is to say, this solution may be able to work for just a short while.
