Some children think that some subjects such as mathematics and philosophy are too difficult for them to study at school, so they should be made optional rather than compulsory. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Mathematic and philosophy are the basic subjects in education institutes, meanwhile, these two subjects are criticized by some students for the hardship during study It is advised that these subjects ought to become optional.
   It is apparent that both mathematics and philosophy are very abstract. These courses may be full of formulas and definitions. For the beginner, it is not easily to adapt to this kind of subjects and grasp effective learning ways. Also, compared with other subjects, like history and languages,  mathematics and philosophy necessitate logical thinking and analytical skills. This is a great challenge for some students, especially for students in primary school. Exposure to rigid lectures, students may feel bored and shamed when they can not understand the knowledge thoroughly.
  However, it is undeniable that both mathematic and philosophy have a profound impact for students study and personal developments. On one hand, mathematic build the basic abilities for students, like calculating and modeling skills. Also, the mathematic knowledge are the basis for other subjects, like physics and computer sciences. Besides, philosophy has always been regarded as the subject which can help to foster learners’ rational thinking and comparing thought. These precious characters are beneficial for students to analyze and solve problems when they enter the workplaces in the future.
In my opinion, it is inappropriate to provide choice to students for selecting philosophy and mathematic. If these two objects are not compulsory any more, some students will escape these subjects and lose a good chance to cultivate personal calculate skills and logical thought. I think schools should improve the teaching ways of two subjects to raise students’ interest about these subjects, for instance, combine the video and internet materials in the classroom.
